Adviser Education Program (AEP)

Welcome

The Adviser Education Program (AEP) was created by advisers in 1994 and provides regular, quality training and workshops for the academic advising community. AEP contributes to the expertise of UW advisers through adviser training and professional development.

This site's goal is to be a hub of information specifically relevant to UW academic advisers and other student services professionals. All are encouraged to share and contribute to the information available on this site.

Stay Connected!

  • Our colleagues at APAC have a Microsoft Teams Workspace: Have an advising question and don't know where to turn? Want to share a course or opportunity with other advisers? All advisers can join APAC's MS Teams group to stay better connected with the advising community.
  • The All Advisers Listserve is a helpful way to disseminate information to the advising community across all three UW campuses. This list is open to all staff and faculty who work in student services. Complete the form to join the All Advisers Listserve.

The Adviser Education program provides the advising campus community with the following programming:

  • Advising Basics: a training for new advisers. Provides participants with an introduction to UW advising, an understanding of the undergraduate student’s academic path, issues and policies around struggling students, a brief introduction to key tools, and connecting advisors to key resources.
  • Lunch & Learn Workshops: quarterly workshops are on topical issues that face advisers.
  • Advanced Adviser Development Program: an advanced training for more experienced advisers. Provides participants with the opportunity to reflect upon, improve, and hone their advising practice.
