Advising Basics Live Training is Currently Paused
Thank you to our advising community for sharing updates about new academic advisers in your departments. Based on your responses, AEP has determined that there are not currently enough participants to host a live 6-hour Advising Basics training session. We’ll continue to check in with you to assess future training needs.
Newer advisers are encouraged to explore the following resources:

What is Advising Basics?
The Advising Basics Workshop is for all new academic advisers. Typically offered multiple times per year, this training provides an introduction to UW advising, an understanding of the undergraduate student’s academic path, issues and policies around struggling students, a brief introduction to key tools, and connects advisers to key resources.
We recognize that several of our colleagues may have job titles that include "adviser" ex. Study Abroad Adviser, but this training is focused on undergraduate academic advisers who work directly with students at UW Seattle.
*The Advising Basics Workshop is intended to supplement primary training with supervisor and /or departmental staff.
