DawgPath Overview

DawgPath can help students discover interesting courses and majors across all three UW campuses and be strategic about planning their course schedule.

How can DawgPath help with major planning?

  • DawgPath displays the cumulative GPA distribution of students who have been accepted and have declared for a particular major over the last 2 or 5 years. GPA is just one of many factors may go into a major's admission decisions, however, advisors can use this information to better inform students who are applying to a capacity-constrained major and help them formulate a backup plan, if necessary.
  • DawgPath also shows the 10 most commonly taken courses by students who have declared for a particular major, providing insight into what declared students had taken inside and outside their major prior to declaring.
  • DawgPath provides quick links to a major's degree requirements on MyPlan and to the UW Career and Internship Center's student outcome data for recent graduates.

How can DawgPath help with course planning?

  • DawgPath displays the distribution of grades for every student who completed a particular course over the last 5 years. It also provides insight into how challenging a course may be. Advisers can use this information to help students plan a more balanced course load.
  • Dawgpath displays a prerequisite map for every UW undergraduate course, and shows a list of other courses that students have taken concurrently with a particular course. Advisers can use this information to help students visualize how to prepare for specific courses; It could also be used to help students identify more advanced courses and/or courses that may be related to ones that they've enjoyed.

On the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of DawgPath, students and advisers can find more information on how/where the data on DawgPath is pulled.
